The Domino Effect

Gonna start a new project with dominoes.  I am just getting started with this but I thought  I would post  the first step.  I thought the colors were so striking.

Now I just need to figure out what I am going to do with them.....

I figured out what to do with a few of the dominoes and I am still thinking about the others.  They are still in the drying faze so I will show you how they look now and then post when they are completely dry.  So far I think they look pretty cool.  Tell me what you think and give me some ideas.

The flowers were bright so I inked them with the alcohol ink (mushroom) to darken them up to look a bit more aged.  As you can see it is still cloudy.  Can't wait to see it dry and clear.

This one I took tissue paper that you would put in a gift bag, and used spray glue (repositionable) on a piece of card stock smoothed it out and ran it through my printer.  I cut out the image and deco paged it on a domino used an eyelet (fishing hook) cutting off the eyelet part gluing it with the "Glossy Accents".  I found a tiny sticker of a dragonfly used the mushroom alcohol in on him and put him in place.  I then put "Glossy Accents" all over the top.  This too is a bit cloudy but I think I like it.  The alcohol ink really only darkened up the wings which were a stark white.  I think because it was a glossy sticker it didn't absorb.  The wings took just enough ink so they were not so stark.

This was made with buttons from a pack I bought from Jo-Ann's.  I cut off the shank with my wire cutters and used the "Glossy Accents" to glue them in place and went over the whole thing with it.

I have not glued anything in place on this one, I am still playing with it.  Not sure what I am gonna do.

This one too.  I don't know what I am gonna do.
More to come.

Frilly Flower

Here is another example of a flower made from ribbon.  I bought this ribbon from Jo-Ann's and was intending to use it to do a display for a friend who's daughter is in ballet.  She never gave me the pictures so I ended up with a half yard of this pretty ribbon and nothing to make with it.  I have had it for over a year hoping to have a purpose for it.  When I came across some flowers made out of ribbon on "Pintrest" I took out all my old ribbon and started making these.  I spend a lot of money on embellishments for my scrapbook pages.  With this new (to me) idea I am able to save a little money on things like this for my scrapbook pages.  It gives me satisfaction to know that I made the "ENTIRE" page myself.  Here are the items I used to make this.

Ribbon, Tacky Glue, 1" hole punch, large needle, Pop Dots, gold button, card stock and yellow string.

I threaded the ribbon and tied it into a circle.  I punched a circle out of the card stock and glued it to the back of the flower.  I glued four pop dots to the back of the button and glued it in the middle of the flower onto the card stock.  Yes it was that simple.  It didn't take much time at all. Using the large needle because the string was thick helped string this together.  I didn't use thread in fear of it breaking when I tied it together.  I imagine you could double thread the needle and have the same result.

Wedding album

I enjoy scrapbooking and seeing the reaction when I give them as gifts.  This is one example of an album I did for my niece.

I saved her invitation she sent me and used it for the front page.

This was the program I saved from the wedding, I took several so I could use all sides for the album.

These were the place cards from the tables.  I only included the immediate family's.

Candid's the photographer didn't think to get.

I love the affect of the vellum over the picture with the writting.  I put it through my printer and it came out great.

I love this picture of their kiss.  My daughter is a very talented photographer.  You can visit her blog here!

Kaylon was happy to see these pictures because her photographer didn't get any of the reception, not sure why.

The fear in grandma's eyes while dancing with the groom, Greg, very funny.
We had a good time.  Kaylon and Greg loved the album.

A scrapbook for Baby Zayden

I started with sturdy cardboard.  It is almost like chipboard but thicker.  I cut two cardboard pieces 8 1/2 inches by 10 1/2 inches.  I then cut 10 pieces of brown craft paper the same size.  I lined it all up and with my "Crop-A-Dile II Big Bite" I punched three holes all the way through the Cardboard and paper  (Love the Big Bite).

I used blue book rings to bind all the pages together.  You can pick up book rings at any office supply store.

Here is my "Crop-A-Dile II"

The next thing I did was to find the paper I wanted to use to cover the front.

I outlined where the cardboard was going to go so I could make sure the patern lined up well.

Using a sponge "brush" that I got at the hardware store and a burnishing tool,
I Decoupaged the paper and layed the cardboad on it.  You have to work really fast to get it where you want it. once it's down use the burnishing tool to roll over it.  The cardboard can curl so I put mine under something to flatten it out.  Make sure it's dry first because it will stick to whatever you put it under.

Once in place fold over all corners.

Then all the sides.  Notice the holes from the previous punches that I did.  At this point I poked a small hole to mark the original holes.

I cut a solid color paper a little bit smaller than the cardboard to cover the rest of it, this will be the inside cover.

I decoupaged the solid paper to cover the edges.

Rolled it with the burnishing tool and presto...

My back cover. I found the holes and repunched them and with an eyelet setter/Crop-A-Dile II put in eyelets.

This is what the set eyelet looks like from the other side.

This is the front of the book.  I did all the same things with the paper as before.  I added the ribbon to cover the line betweet the different papers.  I also used a "latch" type buckle to add a little charactor (got the buckle at Jo-Ann's).  I inked the edges of the letters and used pop up foam to lift them a little from the surface.  The bee hive and little bee are from "Eyelet Outlet" (great products there).  The bee hive is a type of eyelet and the bee is a brad.  I used my "Crop-A-Dile" to punch the hole.

 Added more eyelets.

Notice that I didn't wrap the ribbon all the way around, there was no need since this will be covered up, it saves on ribbon.  All that is left is to add the solid paper and I have the outside done.  As you can see I should have waited to do the eylets on the front cover after I added the solid paper but I got in a hurry, that's what "handmade" is all about.  I will add more as I do the rest of the book.  I will be busy getting my son's scrapbook complete before graduation so hopefully I can work on both projects at the same time.  Well maybe not at the exact same time.

Okay, so I finally finished this baby book and I am just gonna add the pictures and maybe one or two comments about them.

I hope she likes it.  It was a lot of work.  Now I only have three weeks to get my son's senior scrapbook and his display board done for graduation.
Ask any questions you might have about what I did for this album and I will be happy to share with you how I did it.
